In a recent article on LinkedIn: Here’s How You Can Reduce Stress While Changing Careers Through Self-Care, top community experts gathered together to share their insights.
One suggestion for reducing stress in any life transition whether it be your career, relocating, adding to your family, even starting a new workout program, the main thing is to Keep It Simple.
Keeping it simple, is a cornerstone for reducing stress, especially during times of major life transitions.Transitions themselves can be overwhelming as well as trying to implement new self care habits.
Take things slow, pick one thing, and focus there. For example, out of the many valuable suggestions in the LinkedIn article, one that I gravitated to was: 4 Mindfulness Practice.
When I was first starting my journey back to health, I jump-started my process with an amazing acupuncturist, Judy Gibson, LAc of Seven Directions Acupuncture in Nashville, TN.
She taught me that in being mindful we don’t just have to have a focused awareness, that we can also be mindful when we allow our mind to rest, relax, and let go.
A perfect time to do this is at the end of the day. Instead of taking an inventory of all the days activities, playing them over and over in your mind, or worrying about the next day, begin to speak life into yourself. “I did the best I could today and let the rest go.”
Fix yourself a calming hot tea, curl up in a quiet place in your home, allowing yourself to just breath, feeling the warmth of the cup on your hand, the warm liquid flowing down into your stomach, and the peacefulness that washes over you in just the time it takes to sip the last drop. Inhale and think, “I did the best I could today.” Exhale and imagine, ” I’m letting the rest go.”
Establishing a night time routine, of just one simple ritual that allows you to relax and let go, is the key to reducing stress, especially during times of transition. Enjoy the tips to being well.
