Tennessee Summer Massage Qigong Health Wellness

My husband, Pierre and I, have a daily practice.

I make a cup of coffee for myself and pour a glass of juice for him.

I make us a light breakfast, and we come up to our balcony during the summer months.

We take a few moments with each other before we start our day to spend quality time together before our world gets busy, before we connect to our phones, before we read emails or the news.

We’ve created a practice, where we not only nurture ourselves as individuals, but we nurture our relationship as well.

Oftentimes I think, these quality connections get neglected within ourselves. Whether it’s with our partner, our children, our extended family, this quality time….isn’t always there.

So Pierre and I have created a habit, a pattern, a practice.

We spend a few minutes together practicing what’s called the Four Energy Gates, created by Grand Master Nan Lu, that helps us tune into our own body, tune into our connection with nature, and our connection with each other.

Even just taking a moment to connect with nature can be so beneficial.

At our place we have a lot of trees. Oak trees and maple trees; we have a zinnia garden out front. We have magnolia trees. Right now the crepe myrtles are in bloom with bright, bursts, of beautiful hot pink.

Can you imagine connecting to this beautiful view? To connect to that view, that feeling, and to be present with ourselves? To be present with each other to listen and contemplate any thoughts that rise up, any feelings that may surface. To be open about challenges that we might face that day, or we just talk about how good the food is. I love to make a really quick and easy breakfast and we appreciate that time together.

We really appreciate it.

We sit with each other and relax. Be ourselves and tune in to our true selves so that we cannot only nurture ourselves but we can nurture and support each other. I think in life, that’s so important.

My master, Grand Master Nan Lu, always says, If you don’t put yourself first, if you don’t take care of yourself first… If you don’t deeply connect to yourself and know who you are and why you’re here, how can you possibly offer that support to others?

So whether you have a partner or family, or you have a quiet life or a busy life, or you have a big household or a small household, take that time for yourself.

Really nurture yourself, connect with yourself, even if it’s just for 5 to 10 minutes a day. Just really tune in to yourself.
